What might a Distil belt look like? No buckle.
We knew it was crazy, but it was too much fun not to try! We just didn’t know it would take us over a year to get it just right…
TL;DR Magnets FTW. After Nate’s pair of pricey sunglasses fell from his collar at a football game, he came back to the studio, hacked a pair of shades with a pair of magnets, and voila! MagLock was born. That was in 2012. Fast-forward to 2017 when we Kickstarted MagLock Sunglasses… and then to 2019 when we used magnetic magic to organize and streamline your keys with our modular, crowd-funded Ferris System. Even the trademarked best-selling Wally Bifold Wallet–our 2014 Kickstarter–is now on version 5.0 (!) with hidden MagLock pockets that keep cards secure in a slim profile.
Now after over a decade perfecting manufacturing techniques that merge leather with magnets, we challenged ourselves to distil another everyday essential: The Belt

New to Kickstarter? Here’s how it works: A “pledge” is essentially a pre-order – but only if the campaign reaches its funding goal. If the goal isn’t met by the deadline, no one is charged, and we won’t move forward with MagLock Belt production.
In short, crowdfunding Backers pool their cash in a small leap of faith that makes a big difference to help bring new designs to life. In return, we offer campaign-exclusive pricing far below the projected retail price. Learn more in the Kickstarter Backer’s Guide.
Yes, you can mix n’ match sizes and colors to your liking after the campaign ends. Simply select one of the Pledge Levels today to get started. Then in the cart page that follows, add on the number and type of belts you’d like to receive.

Hi! Nate and I have been designing products (and eating noodles) together for well over a decade. This is our 10th Kickstarter. Our very first was in 2012, when our Snooze iPhone Stand literally kickstarted our new business. The excitement and feedback we receive from the crowd-funding community plays an integral role in how we bring new products that we want to see on the shelves to life.
In fact, we’re still wholly independent and haven’t taken on investors; it’s just us and a dedicated team of creatives and contractors. And we’ve delivered on every single Kickstarter, so you can feel confident backing this, our tenth campaign.
Specifications, Timeline + ETA
After over a year of collaboration with our manufacturing team and countless not-there-yet samples, we’ve dialed in the process with reliable, functional prototypes that are ready for full production.
Nate traveled to Shenzhen earlier this year to troubleshoot with handmade samples and finalize construction details in person. And in part because we pushed to be able to have photo-ready samples in hand for the campaign, we are confident that production will be able to start as soon as BACKER SURVEY RESULTS are in!
Here’s the rough schedule so you can see the projected delivery dates:
- OCT 21 – NOV 21, 2025 Kickstarter campaign
- LATE NOV 2025 Send survey; place order for materials
- DEC 2025 Production of products and packaging begins
- FEB 2026 Production is completed; shipment to the fulfillment warehouse
- MARCH 2026 Leather and Nylon Delivery to Backers begins!
- APRIL 2026 Stretch MagLock Belt delivery to Backers begins!

WHY? 💚 A True Crowd-Funding Effort
We’re back after 9 successful Kickstarters because we need your help to raise the funding for materials and production of the first batch of MagLock Belts.
Cashflow and inventory planning this year have been unbelievably challenging to say the least. Importing a new product is extra risky, with payment of tariffs due entirely upfront before having sold a single belt. Kickstarter enables us to offer what are essentially preorders; this not only gives us insight on what sizes/colors to order, it also enables us to hit GO on the costly process of production and fulfillment.
