The idea of using LoRa technology for secure text messaging was conceived back in June 2022, and the actual work on the design and prototyping started in September 2022.
Orange Dongle Development Project officially started on September 2022.
Our goal is to ship all rewards before the end of December 2023.
To develop the circuit and PCB we had to do some prototyping on a larger size and even use some evaluation boards, here are some images of our boards and prototyping stages:
Two Orange Dongles, if they have a line of sight, can operate within a range of up to 5 miles. However, the maximum range is influenced by various factors such as temperature, humidity, and other physical and environmental conditions.
In this mode, the highest level of security and encryption can be achieved. Both parties can select a specific AES128 security code to be used for secure communication.
In mesh mode, data can be transmitted through multiple dongles, extending the range as long as there are dongles within each other’s reach. While the travel time for text messages is longer compared to peer-to-peer mode, this technique allows for longer distances and the ability to navigate around obstacles.
In mesh mode, the range is extended as much as possible by passing data through multiple dongles.
We have developed a Windows App that handles text messaging, sets up security and channels. Our Beta version has already been released and tested in May 2023.
We will continue to further develop the App, incorporating more features and functions as we progress. Users will be able to download the latest version of the App from a link that we will provide later, either here or on our website.
