The project was initiated based on some disturbing facts:

• The Secretary-General of the United Nations issued a warning in the Himalayas in October 2023: The glaciers are retreating and we have no way to retreat.
• Scientists predict that as the glaciers melt, the Arctic may be ice-free as early as the summer of 2040, and polar bears will be completely extinct by 2100.
• According to statistics, there are more than 275,000 glaciers in the world, and glaciers in many areas will not survive the 21st century.

Based on the disturbing environmental factors such as the melting of global glaciers and the rise in sea levels, In 2023, we created a tourbillon with the concept of “Never Melt Ice” so that this tourbillon can contribute to the world’s environmental protection.

The “Never Melting Ice” sapphire free-sprung balance tourbillon project has been a great success due to its good intention of calling for attention to environmental protection, excellent design and superior quality.

In December 2022, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution declaring 2025 as the International Year of Glacier Conservation, and starting from 2025, March 21st of each year will be established as World Glacier Day.

AGELOCER hopes to commemorate the World Glacier Day and call on more people to pay attention to climate issues, and decided to launch a new project: Never Melt Ice 2.0

For every “Ice Watch” sold in this crowdfunding campaign, AGELOCER will donate $10 to the World Environmental Protection Organization.

We have made bolder design optimizations on this popular project, and tried to use new materials to reduce the price of the project, hoping to make more people pay attention to the issue of global warming.

The crystal clear “Ice Watch” allows the tourbillon to float directly on the wrist

We compared the refractive index, light transmittance, Mohs hardness, impact resistance, cost, etc. for the case material. In order to allow the public to buy high-quality and reasonably priced tourbillon, we selected K9 crystal. The refractive index is excellent at 1.52, close to natural crystal, and the light presents a brilliant luster after refraction. The light transmittance is greater than 92%, higher than ordinary glass (about 80-88%), and the visual clarity is close to sapphire glass (light transmittance is about 95%).

This technology uses ion exchange technology to make the internal structure of K9 crystal more compact, and then heats and anneals it at a high temperature of 1100℃ to achieve the expected hardening effect. Finally, a silicon carbide hard film is plated on the surface of K9 crystal to make the hardness of K9 crystal reach 8, which is what AGELOCER believes is a better watch case.

It has the above advantages, but the price is greatly reduced!

In order to make this watch more transparent, we came up with a bold idea – remove the traditional dial and only see the double-sided hollowed-out movement skeleton structure, so that the wearer can clearly see the light and shadow produced by the hollowed-out movement skeleton, and use the mechanical design aesthetics to show the purity of the “Ice watch” to the extreme.

This method saves 38 grams of copper alloy and saves the earth’s crust from experiencing 1,827 vibrations of the mining hammer.

When the double-sided hollow structure replaces the metal dial, we are not only making a watch, but also caring for the earth. What you get is the resonance of the mechanical heartbeat and the natural pulse.

Note: Compared with the traditional copper alloy dial production, this design reduces 62% of metal usage and 48% of electroplating wastewater.

CNC diamond cutting technology, processing accuracy up to 0.001mm

The hardness and lack of toughness of K9 crystals require extremely high precision. The machining accuracy of parts must be accurate to microns. AGELOCER’s machining accuracy is as high as 0.001mm! The anti-glare treated watch mirror and crystal case make the watch clearer and more flawless. The optical principle reflects the light beam entering the crystal 360° without dead angles on each cut surface, making the entire watch seem to float on the hand.

A tourbillon watch is a mechanical watch equipped with a “rotating escapement speed regulating mechanism”. The tourbillon mechanism can resist the error caused by gravity on the watch parts. The tourbillon is called the “king of watches” not only because of its high price, but also because the craftsmanship required for the tourbillon is very complex and delicate. The tourbillon, perpetual calendar and minute repeater are also known as the “three major complex functions” of mechanical watches. Since the birth of the tourbillon in 1795, for more than 200 years, watchmakers around the world have regarded the production of tourbillon as the technical Mount Everest in the watch industry. Many wealthy people and artists in the world collect tourbillons.

What watch is more technically difficult than a tourbillon?
It must be a Free-sprung balance flying tourbillon!

What is a free-sprung balance movement? The free-sprung balance movement is an emerging technology. Unlike traditional movement designs, the free-sprung balance eliminates the hairspring clip, which avoids the problem of the hairspring’s effective length changing due to the hairspring clip shifting or loosening, thus causing the timing error to increase.

At the same time, the free-sprung balance hairspring has higher requirements for processing precision and higher requirements for material stability, which greatly improves the stability of the watch’s timekeeping accuracy for a long time. These technological improvements make the watch more accurate and stable.

The free-sprung balance flying tourbillon movement that was previously only available in high-end Swiss luxury watches is now used on the AGELOCER tourbillon, and we only need a more affordable price.

80-hour power reserve movement

For example, Rolex, Omega, Patek Philippe and other luxury watches worth hundreds of thousands of dollars only have a standard power reserve of 40 hours, while the AGELOCER Tourbillon uses advanced dual-spring linkage technology to achieve an amazing 80-hour power reserve, with a kinetic energy reserve 100% higher! The design of the double spring box can make the spring energy release more evenly and stably, improving the accuracy and stability of the watch. The vibration frequency of the tourbillon movement is 28,800 vibrations/time (4HZ), which controls the daily error within ±15 seconds

This technology has been protected by Chinese utility model patents and Chinese invention patents.

The beauty of hollow craftsmanship makes the flying tourbillon so light that it “FLY”

We innovatively removed the bridge across the top, allowing the entire tourbillon to float, greatly enhancing the mechanical feel and mechanical art beauty of the tourbillon when it is running.

The hollowing process of the movement is even more amazing. Removing any excess metal parts from the movement is an expression that takes into account both aesthetics and technology. It is an extreme hollowing process that has never appeared in traditional watches. The difficulty of this process lies in how to achieve a balance between as much hollowing as possible and stable quality. It is the result of a lot of analysis and experiments by professional watchmakers.

This tourbillon watch weighs only 75g, and when you wear it, it feels like the watch is floating on your wrist! It is both light, comfortable and luxurious.

In addition to the powerful movement, we also considered the practicality of nighttime use. The watch hands and scales are made of Swiss Super-LumiNova® environmentally friendly luminous material. It is the same ice blue luminous material as Rolex, reminding us that protecting glaciers is urgent.

Million Dollar Device

To create high-quality watches, professional machinists use multimillion-dollar equipment such as the Willemin 5-Axis, which transforms precious metals into precision parts such as the gear wheels, gear axles, and movement bridges in the tourbillon movement.

High-end watch parts can only come from high-end machines. Each piece is made with great precision, with an error margin of only microns, but these are just watch parts.

Over 500 Hours of Crafting

After mechanical processing, the parts need to be delicately polished by hand. Each watch will be meticulously created by different watchmakers to create a decorative effect comparable to high-end jewelry, which is a height that no mechanical equipment can achieve.

100% waterproof test of the watch head

The airtightness of each watch is tested by professional testing equipment to simulate 50 meters underwater (about 5 bar, which is equivalent to 5 times the atmospheric pressure).

100% full inspection and independent adjustment

Different from most 3C consumer products that adopt a random inspection mode of less than 5%, AGELOCER’s products use a full inspection method to adjust each watch to ensure that it is in the most perfect condition when the user receives it.

100% finished product 4-position adjustment test

When fully wound, the watch is tested using a Swiss watch calibration instrument: horizontally placed with the surface facing upward, horizontally placed with the surface facing downward, vertically placed with the crown facing upward, and at an angle of 45° to the surface facing upward. The timing error in each of the four directions must not exceed 10±10 seconds to meet the standard.

192 hours simulated wearing test

The watch is placed on an automatic winding machine to simulate normal wearing. The watch on the automatic winder will rotate 360 ​​degrees to simulate the actual user environment. It will run for a total of 192 hours and record the timing error to screen out unqualified products, further ensuring that every watch sold is accurate and stable.

Low temperature dehumidification and dust removal treatment of the movement

In order to extend the life of the movement, we try our best to achieve the ultimate: before packaging each watch, all semi-finished products, including the movement, must undergo 30 minutes of low-temperature dehumidification treatment, and then undergo professional micro-vacuuming treatment, ultimately ensuring that the interior of the watch is sufficiently dry and clean.

Additional water temperature change resistance test and condensation test

Due to the limitations of watch materials and the principle of thermal expansion and contraction, mechanical watches have limited tolerance to water vapor. AGELOCER has added additional water temperature change resistance tests and condensation tests to provide consumers with watches with higher sealing properties.
