I’m Bevis, the product manager for iFu ED2, and I’ve always had a passion for DIY. My daughter, a high school student, has been studying art for years and loves to express her creativity in all kinds of ways—sketching, anime art, oil painting, and sand art, to name a few. She’s particularly fond of creating on different surfaces, like glass, ceramics, and leather, and enjoys making small crafts and accessories. One day, I watched her paint on glass. While she put her heart into it, the result didn’t quite achieve the effect she wanted. It got me thinking: what if engraving could help bring her vision to life? Her birthday was around the corner, so I gifted her an engraving tool, hoping it would add a new dimension to her creative projects.
Just a few days later, she came back with some complaints about the tool’s limitations: weak power, frequent stalls, and a short battery life. I felt a bit embarrassed, to say the least. But then it hit me—this was a chance to redefine and design a truly powerful engraving tool. So my team and I began working on a new concept. After months of development, we created the iFu ED2—a portable, multi-functional engraving pen that’s powerful and durable, designed for a wide range of materials.
When I handed my daughter the prototype, she quickly got to work and created an art piece on a glass bottle (pictured below). She was thrilled, saying the tool’s power, battery life, and built-in lighting made it easy to stay focused on her work.

The iFu ED2 offers three speed levels—5000 / 12000 / 22000 RPM—tailored to different tasks and materials.

Most tools on the market feature fixed-speed settings, and it’s rare to find products with stepless speed control. Through extensive discussions with users, particularly artists, we found that long-term use demands a locking mode, while fine details require a momentary mode for better control. After multiple rounds of development, we overcame technical challenges by incorporating dual-mode operation through chip control, offering greater flexibility and professional-grade performance.

During our initial research, we found that many users need both powerful and controlled torque for their DIY projects. Traditional pen-style rotary tools were either too small and underpowered, making it hard to work with tough materials, or larger tools lacked the precision needed for fine detailing. In response, our motor team carried out extensive testing and fine-tuning, ultimately achieving 150mN.m of torque. This balance of power and precision allows users to handle a wide range of materials while maintaining the accuracy required for professional-quality work.

During the design phase, we discovered that different DIY tasks required distinct operational needs. Some users needed greater precision for delicate engraving and polishing, while others wanted to reduce hand fatigue during extended use. After extensive testing and user feedback, we developed the dual-mode system. The press-and-hold mode offers precise control for short tasks, while the continuous mode is designed for longer sessions. This innovation not only enhances efficiency but also ensures a comfortable and safe user experience, providing flexibility and ease for every task.

The press-hold mode is ideal for short, controlled tasks, while the continuous rotation mode supports longer projects, enhancing efficiency and ensuring comfortable, safe operation. This innovative design offers users a more flexible and convenient experience.

Wide Compatibility: Equipped with a standard 2.3mm interface, it supports common accessory sizes like 2mm, 2.3mm, 3mm, and 3.17mm, eliminating the need for repeated purchases and saving both time and cost.
