What’s so special about the jacket?
While most of the Iso jackets are made out of a mix of various different materials that are neither recyclable nor biodegradable, the MIUtec Iso jacket is made of only two mono-material components that are recyclable and degradable so your jacket never needs to end up as trash. Delivering the same functionality and performance that you desire and love, the MIUtec Iso is a game-changer for sustainable clothing.
Innovation lies in simplicity
We use a new generation of performance materials and the entire jacket is designed for durability and circularity.
Instead of down feathers or a non-degradable synthetic filling, we use an insulation made of wood-based fibers, giving you the same functionality and performance, but actually providing you with a bio-based and biodegradable insulation.
Since the wood-based fibers are breathable and have odor-resisting properties, it is an ideal insulation layer.
Every other detail, including the entire zipper and the sewing thread, the pockets etc., is crafted from one single raw material – a new type of polyamide with enhanced degradability properties in landfill environment and the ocean.
Thanks this cutting-edge design and construction, your new jacket never needs to become trash. We designed it for circularity – from start to end.
Microfiber shedding as one of the major hidden environmental problems
Did you know that it is estimated that we eat about 1 credit card worth of microplastics each week?
Like every clothing piece, due to wearing and washing, small fibers are ending up in the environment, so called microfibers. They are such small «pieces» of plastics that they can hardly be seen by eye. The issue: They leak into the air, water and oceans and remain there over decades if not centuries as they hardly degrade.
Innovative solutions involve high-quality materials that shed fewer microfibers and degrade more rapidly when released. Picture synthetic textiles that decompose 20 times faster in marine environments than regular synthetics. These advanced materials combine technologies to minimize shedding and enhance degradability, reducing potential harm even if some microfibers are released. By creating jackets made from these innovative materials, and only these materials, we present you a solution that can positively impact the issue of microfiber pollution and ensure a cleaner future.

Only 1% of clothes are recycled
Everyone talks about recycling, but in reality, only 1% of garments are recycled into new clothes on a global level. The main reason for this is the wild mix of low-quality materials in a product, which makes it nearly impossible to actually recycle them – economically but also technically. The result is that most garments can only end up as unusable trash. This we need to change.
Usual insulation jackets are a broad mix of fibers. The larger the mix, the more difficult it becomes to recycle the product, be it natural or synthetic. Why so? You first need to separate all components and trims (think of sewing thread, zippers, buttons, etc., etc.).
Secondly, if a fabric is made of more than one fiber type, you even need to separate these fibers additionally. A feat that is currently not possible on an industrial scale. That is one of the main reasons that by today, only 1% of clothing pieces are actually recycled into new clothing!
In our MIUtec Iso jackets, we reduced the different mono-material components to only two, making it as optimized as currently possible. With this cutting-edge design and construction using only two mono-materials components, the jackets become easier recyclable and your new jacket never needs to become trash.
