1․ Reduce stress on the chip

2․ Redirect the generated heat
The chip is covered by 1.5mm thermal pads that absorb the generated heat and redirect it efficiently onto a 2mm thick heat sink.

3․ Remove the heat
The entire plug side of the Planck SSD is in direct contact with the thermal pads and acts as a heat sink (radiator) that effectively directs the heat away from the SSD. The plug-side placement also makes sure it doesn’t get too hot in your hand.
