Our cornea is the only area of your body that receives oxygen directly from the air.
In order to allow large amounts of oxygen to reach your cornea, contact lenses are designed to have large amounts of tiny pores. The structure of contact lenses looks more like a net.
The moment you put on your contact lenses, lacrimal protein will commerce to be absorbed, not only adhering to the surface of the lens but also penetrating deep into the body of your contact lenses.
Those proteins will block the oxygen to reach your cornea, leading to reduced tear production and increased tear evaporation.
Moreover, lacrimal proteins are large molecules. When they accumulate on the surface of contact lenses over time, they can create a rough irregular surface. Also, these protein deposits can attract and bind with other substances in the tear films.
Additionally, protein deposits on contact lenses can create a breeding ground for bacteria and other microorganisms.

Taking inspiration from a Nobel Prize-winning technique, ReO2 has incorporated electrophoresis into its contact lens care solution.
ReO2 cuts peptide bonds of protein, make them into small molecules, then uses an electrical field to remove them from the contact lens effectively, up to 94.7%.
ReO2 can generate Hypochlorous acid, which can kill up to 99.9999% of bacteria and 99.999% of viruses. Hypochlorous acid is approved by WHO as safe for the human body.
ReO2 achieves all of its impressive features using only a 0.9% NaCl solution.
*Traditional contact lens solution normally has preservative, surfactant, and bactericide.
