At the end of the campaign, you will receive a survey to choose your carabiner color (silver or orange) and key type (SC1 or KW1).

The two available key types are the two most common lock types used in North America; SC1 for Schlage locks, and KW1 for Kwikset locks.

We are Outdoor Element, a small startup based in Colorado, sparking confident outdoor adventure through innovative gear.

Mike, our founder, left his “day job” as an engineer in aerospace almost 6 years ago to pursue his passion for the outdoors and entrepreneurship. He now spends most of his time inventing & engineering multi-purpose, solution-based EDC for everyone from seasoned survivalists to nature novices to get out and explore with confidence.

Mike partnered with Joe, a 25+ year consumer product operations executive, in 2015 to help bring Mike’s myriad of product ideas to life. Maylynn joined the team in 2021, helping to free up Mike’s time to continue creating. With 9 patents and counting, there’s been a lot of innovating going on!

Given the Native American name of ‘Bodaway’, meaning ‘Fire Maker’, it’s no wonder we see a fire theme in so much of the adventure and survival gear by Mike. We learned that the hard way. Took us 3 different factories and about 5 different key iterations to get this right!
