Believe it or not, but when we started (with The Baroque Tarot), we were actually a couple of medical residents from Tunisia, so we’re not your typical tarot deck creators.
After the success of The Baroque Tarot First Edition, we added some people to our team and launched The Naked Truth Tarot First Edition and The Baroque Tarot Deluxe Edition under Baroque Publishing. Now, we’re back with a new deck that’s sure to capture your heart!
Why The Chibi Tarot?
Well, I’ve always been a bit of a tarot nerd, but I remember how intimidating it felt when I first started. That’s why I wanted to create something that would make people smile when they picked up a card, rather than furrow their brows in confusion.
One day, while doodling in my sketchbook (and procrastinating on a deadline, if I’m honest), I started sketching out ideas for cute, chubby-cheeked versions of my favorite tarot characters. Suddenly, these powerful archetypes felt approachable, even huggable! That’s when it hit me – why not make a whole deck like this?
So I got to work!
For The Chibi Tarot, I wanted to bring in a fresh perspective, so I reached out to an incredibly talented artist who could bring this vision to life in a way that would exceed all our expectations. Together, we’ve created a deck that’s both adorable and true to the tarot tradition. By reimagining the traditional RWS symbolism in this adorable style, we’ve created a deck that:
- Maintains the depth and accuracy of traditional tarot
- Brings a smile to your face with every card you draw
- Makes learning tarot less intimidating for beginners
- Adds a touch of whimsy to readings for experienced practitioners
To complement the friendly and inviting artwork, we’ve designed a guidebook that mirrors the deck’s approachability. This guidebook is written in clear, friendly language to help demystify the tarot for newcomers while providing engaging insights for the experienced practitioner. It’s the perfect companion to help you explore the nuances of each card in a fun and accessible way.
Creating this deck has been an absolute blast. Our amazing artist (“Viavaly Art“, an aspiring artist from Mexico) and I spent countless hours refining each card. We’ve giggled over chibi versions of The Tower and Death, and worked hard to include a diverse cast of characters too, because representation matters, even in the world of cute!
