Aerogel, the world’s lightest solid and a Guinness World Record holder, has a density of just 3.55 kg/m³, 2.75 times that of air and 140 times lighter than dry pine. It resembles solidified smoke but is similar in composition to glass. With its high porosity, low density, excellent thermal insulation, and non-flammability, aerogel has promising applications in insulation, soundproofing, storage, and catalysis.
