As a team of industrial designers, engineers, and product managers, when all existing products can’t satisfy us, we innovate with our creativity and solve the problems with our techniques and skills.

In this case, we needed something sharp enough to slice through daily tasks and easy to maintain. More importantly, it needs to be long-lasting so we can use one model for as long as possible. And thus, the Titanium Dual-action Automatic Utility Knife/ Comb was born.

Is it a comb or a knife?

It’s both.

The handle is with an automatic mechanism design, and it uses the Olfa CKB-2 Utility Blade. That was our initial design. We wanted something with the most extraordinary material, a reliable mechanism, and a wide range of uses.

Because of the Automatic Knife’s unique features, it wasn’t approved by Kickstarter at first, so our designer has changed the “blade” to a more civilian design, the multi-function comb. When shipping all orders, the comb will be installed, and the blade will be shipped in a separate package.

The comb has exactly the same specifications as the CKB-2 blade, and it’s more like a safe replacement for the blade, just like the Butterfly Trainer. You can always change the comb into a utility blade easily.

The Most Handy & Versatile EDC Pocket Knife

A knife is never the right tool, but it is a tool that can be used in almost every situation. Rather than carrying every tool we may need, we carry a knife. There are so many so-called multi-function tools, but only when we don’t want to hurt our knives do we use these multi-tools. And with the Automatic Utility, you never worry about a blunt and stained blade or the trouble of sharpening regularly.

You push out the blade, get the job done, then retract the blade.

Whenever the blade is stained, sticked with glue or tape, or getting blunt, you can simply change a new blade in less than one second.

Mechanism

The mechanism inside took us months of testing and optimizing. It is the optimization based on the traditional automatic knife mechanism.

Frame:
6061 Aluminum (Matte black, hard anodizing)
Grade 5 Titanium (Stonewashed/ Anodized Blue)
702 Zirconium (Anodized Black)
Screws: S2 steel
Spring: Manganese steel spring.

All we choose is just to make it a long-lasting model that will only be your helping hand and will not cause any trouble for maintenance.

Fast Opening & Closing

This is our favorite mechanism type, especially the OTF automatic. It always presents a fast and solid response every time you use it.

Compared with any other assistant openers, in which you need to use your thumb stud or a flipper to act upon the blade, with this model, all you need to do is just push the button, and then it will open fully.
