It started with a car ride …
Picture this: winter time in Sweden. Icy roads, lined with snow. Mile-long queues of cars driving towards the same destination – the beautiful ski paradises of our northern land. And every single car carrying one of those clumsy, old-school rooftop cargo carriers. Enough to cover an entire parking lot. The natural question being, of course: where does everyone store these monstrosities?
It continued with a patent …
For us, it was clear – we saw a gap in the market for a rooftop cargo carrier that traveled well and stored easily. This, construction-wise, would translate to a design that was durable and secure, yet lightweight and flexible. So, we investigated how other companies operated and how their cargo boxes were designed.
To us, “durable and secure” meant a construction that would ensure safe travel, eliminating risks for the user, the car, or the contents of the cargo box. However, we soon discovered that in the industry, “durable and secure” simply meant testing the structure during braking at speeds of up to 18 km/h. In other words, slower than most would ever travel, even on the narrowest country roads. Moreover, not only were these boxes inadequately tested, they were also heavy and cumbersome. Installing one atop your car was a challenge, and removing it required at least two people – not to mention a vast storage space.
Our concept was simple. We envisioned a cargo box genuinely designed for travel, and made for the outdoors. With the end-user in mind. So, we started from scratch. Designed. Tested. Re-designed with other materials. Tested again. We spent five years designing and testing, as a matter of fact. At last, we felt ready to introduce Twistboxes to the world: with a patented design that’s both durable and secure, yet lightweight and flexible.

Easy to store
From 520 liters on top of your car to 30 centimeters in your closet – your living space shouldn’t limit the way you travel. Think of it as Hermione’s magic extension bag.
Easy to carry, easy on the environment
When unfolded, our cargo box matches the size of the largest cargo boxes on the market. But guess what? It weighs only half as much – 22 kilos, to be exact. For those unfamiliar with kilograms, that’s akin to a suitcase. Or a small dog, if you wish. Its lightweight design not only makes it easier to carry and install, but also consumes less fuel and energy.
Easy and secure
Thanks to our patented metal construction, we ensure your luggage is always safe. Typically, cargo boxes are tested at speeds of only 16–18 km/h, and surprisingly, many carriers can’t handle even this. We conducted the same tests, but at a speed of 80 km/h. Even packed with a load of 75 kilos and heavy braking, Twistboxes remained completely unaffected.

Easy to match
We love smart design in all its aspects. That includes perfecting even the smallest details. Such as matching the seams with your car. Or your luggage. Or your shoelaces. Scandinavian design at its best.
Easy to pack
No more climbing through the backseat of your car and enlisting half your family as assistants. Twistboxes opens easily from the sides, optimally protecting your car (and your back) and providing you with a completely flat surface to pack on. You can also open it up completely from the top.
Tested for all weather conditions
Being from the north, we know a thing or two about harsh weather. Twistboxes has been through all seasons, enduring heavy snow, ice, rain, and sun over the past years. We use PVC 1680D fabric with UV protection of 50+, which is completely waterproof and mold-resistant. The zippers are also waterproof and are typically used in extreme environments, such as oil platforms. These features also make it easy to clean – even for those of you who enjoy taking the scenic (albeit muddy) route.
Oh, so quiet!
Unlike your average cargo carrier, Twistboxes doesn’t produce that annoying whistling sound. Even if you don’t happen to drive an electric car, you’d prefer your cargo box to be quieter than your vehicle, right?
Easy to attach
Twistboxes fits all rails and attaches the same way as other cargo boxes using our mounting gear (which is included in your Kickstarter reward). The quickest and easiest method of fastening is by using a T-bolt, but the classic U-bolt is also an option. If using the U-bolt, your rail must be no wider than 75 millimeters.
Easy to travel with
