Catius is a company established through the Samsung SDS in-house venture program, XEED-LAB. We focus on developing AI technology specifically for young children, addressing social issues such as excessive screen time for toddlers and parental stress. Our mission is to create a healthier parenting and educational environment.
Before founding the company, the co-founders observed the challenges faced by parents around them. They sought to find ways to increase interactive conversation time with children while reducing exposure to harmful TV and smartphone use, as well as to alleviate significant parenting stress. Over the past five years, they have exclusively researched and developed AI solutions for young children.
We created a prototype capable of simple conversations and tested it with hundreds of children to understand their interests and needed features.
We enhanced our child-specific AI chatbot engine to improve accuracy in recognizing children’s speech. Additionally, to make the product more enjoyable, we identified preferred fairy tales and nursery rhymes through testing and secured hundreds of stories, songs, and lullabies via partnerships with renowned content providers.
Regarding the character design, we visited numerous kindergartens and preschools and conducted interviews with children to determine their favorite characters. This process led to the creation of our current product in the form of dinosaurs and unicorns.
