How does it work?

It takes care of your plants for you. All you need to do is:

· Add nutrients and water;

· Plug it in; and

· Plant a seed in the growing media.

Then you can leave it alone for weeks! You can be an indoor farmer!

The Perfect Amount of Water and Nutrients:

Watering plants can be tricky — too much water will drown the plant, too little water will dry them out. Verda Garden packs a smart watering system, which will automatically deliver the perfect amount of water and nutrients to your plants and keep them healthy at all times. Our large volume grow tray holds 4 liters (1.06 gal) of water .

You can use any hydroponic nutrients available. It’s not a must to buy them from us!

There are many brands that require customers to purchase their expensive seeds and growing media refills. But for Verda Garden, you can feel free to use any seeds and growing media available! You can even cut a dishwashing sponge into pieces and use them as the growing medium.

However, we do provide growing media! The Veggroom’s growing media are biological peat-based sponges that have a great air-to-water ratio and provide ample room for plant roots to spread out. It provides the best environment for the germination of seeds.

Automatic Features:

• Our cutting-edge, automatic full-spectrum LED grow light mimics sunlight and provides the right spectrum of light for optimal plant growth. The light color is soft and warm; it does not disturb your living environment.
• The light turns on and off automatically everyday; you can choose 12- or 16-hour light duration. The timer starts when you first plug in the light system.  i.e., if you plug it in at 8 a.m. in the morning, the light will be turned on every day at 8 a.m. and turned off 16 or 12 hours later autamatically, depending on your setting.You can restart the timer by pressing the reset button.
• The quiet air pump provides abundant oxygen to the root system for healthy root growth and prevents root rot.

• When the grow tray is running low on water, the water indicator light on the grow tray will flash and the air pump will stop automatically.

You don’t need a large garden or terrace to grow delicious produce. Verda Garden is extremely versatile, allowing you to grow in your kitchen, on your shelving units, or even in your bookcase. The options are endless! Verda Garden fits on any shelf (with shelf-to-shelf distance between 30cm to 60 cm for maxium efficiency). The unit needs a surface area of 29cm x 29cm (11.4×11.4 in).

How does the grow light fit into shelves? 

Option 1: If your shelf is made of non-metallic material,

• Attach the metallic board to the bottom of the shelf with the 3m re-movable mounting tape provided.
• The grow light panel contains magnets that attach to the metallic board. Simply stick the light panel to the bottom of the shelf
   

Option 2: If your shelf is made of metallic material,

• Simply stick the grow light to the bottom of the shelf. The grow light panel contains magnets that attract to the metallic surface.

Option 3: Use a zip tie to tie the grow light to the shelf

• As the intensity of the light reaching plants of the same height varies with the shelf-to-shelf distance,  you need to adjust the brightness of the light by pressing the buttons on the light system to suit your plants’ need. Too much light or insufficient light will cause poor growth.
• We provide a reference chart showing the recommended values of light intensity at the growing surface.
•  Use the “Photone – Grow Light Meter” app to assist you with adjusting the light intensity to suit your plants. It can measure the light intensity of the growing surface so you can adjust the light intensity accordingly.
• Veggroom is partnering with the app “PHOTONE – GROW LIGHT METER” 🌱 Photone is developed by Lightray Innovation, a Switzerland-based company focused on putting an accurate and easy-to-use light meter into everyone’s pocket, using devices we already have.
• Every customer who purchases a Verda Garden will receive a 3-month free coupon for the Photone app, which will help them adjust the grow light system’s light intensity to suit the needs of various plants and shelf heights.   Verda Garden requires the “LED Full Spectrum” setting to measure accurately. After 3 months, the full-spectrum LED unlock has a one-time price of 6 USD.
   

Why do you need Verda Garden’s light system and not a conventional grow light?

Different shelf heights require different light intensities. Not many people know what kind of grow light to buy, but this solves the problem. No more guess work! Verda Garden’s light system can provide high enough intensity for plants when it is fitted into a shelf with a shelf-to-shelf distance between 30 and 60 cm for maxium efficiency. The light intensity of Verda Garden’s light system can be adjusted accordingly.

How do you expand the grow trays?

Simply remove the stopper and use the connector to connect the two trays. Water and nutrients can flow freely through the grow tray. The connector is level with the bottom of the grow tray.

Why do you need an Verda Garden modular expandable grow tray?

You can increase the growing capacity easily anytime.  It is not easy to find a tray in a size that fits on your shelf on the market.

You only need to use one electrical plug (Add-on) for the 3 connected units due to our low voltage electricity copper connectors.

It is stackable. We recommend only stacking a maximum of 3 units for safety reasons.

*Just use the default setting of the light if you are growing with the whole structure. No need to adjust the light intensity.

• When you are growing plants of larger size, you may block the other openings with the covers to prevent light from reaching the solution. This can prevent algal growth.

How does it work?

• Add cococoir/other medium (We suggest using cococoir, because it produce the best result after our testing. But you may use other medium e.g. tissue paper, soil, and microgreens grow mat as long as they absorb water well.)
• Add seeds
• If the seeds are larger in size,  top them with a thin layer of soil.
• Optional: Cover the microgreens tray with a plastic wrap to provide a humid environement for germination

It works with a wicked mechanism. The cotton rod absorbs water into the medium.

How many vegetables can the Veggroom Verda Garden produce?

A Verda Garden can grow 9 plants at a time. 

Many indoor gardens on the market do not consider the spacing between each plant, claiming they can grow an unreasonably large number of plants in a small area.

It is very important to keep enough spacing between each plant to make sure they do not block light from each other due to overlapping vegetation.

In Verda Garden, each plant is positioned 9.5cm apart to make sure there is enough space for each plant to grow healthily.

How many units do you need to cover your recommended daily intake?

Harvest One and Plant One:

It is recommended that adults eat 2 cups of vegetables per day.

1 head of lettuce = 4 cups of shredded lettuce

In order to meet the nutrition requirements, 1 head of grown lettuce can supply 4 cups of lettuce, enough for 2 days of vegetables required for a person.

Total harvest required for a person per month: 15 heads of lettuce.

Assume a harvest of 1 head of lettuce every 2 days and planting a new seed right away. Each plant requires 30 days to grow.

After harvesting the 15th plant, the newly planted lettuce on day 1 should have grown for 15*2 days = 30 days.

You may use our calculator to determine how many units you need.

The maximum number of plants growing in 2 units at the same time = 18 plants.

Therefore, 2 units are enough to supply the recommended daily nutrition for 1 person if the person solely depends on the garden to supply vegetables for their diet.

How do you wash it?

• Simply drain the water and move the grow tray to the sink. Wash by hand with dish liquid; do not put in the dishwasher.
• We recommend washing the grow tray or draining the water and filling the tray with clean water once a month to prevent bacteria growth.

*We recommend buying seeds from a trustworthy company as germination rate highly depends on the seeds quality. Please note that the germination rate of the seeds may reduce if they have been stored for over a year.

*If you want to grow cherry tomatoes with Verda Garden, we suggest buying Dwarf tomatoes seeds as the plant is much smaller in size and do not require additional stickings when growing.
