The Trekker is not just a shoe, is another layer of innovation on top of great hemp products. Our newest innovative feature allows you to step in and out of your shoes super easily thanks to the reinforced heel system.
We made these for the active person, the challenger, the go-to places, and that means you have to be prepared for every weather. Our hemp Trekkers have been made in a way to repel water from coming in. We have added a proprietary coating layer that protects the fabric and its properties from stains, liquids, and dust particles. This will make the fabric very easy to clean as well.
Then we have also added a waterproof membrane that keeps your feet dry no matter what.
The tongue is also stitched to the main shoe body to allow waterproofing on a higher level. (Gusset tongue)

8000Kicks’ backpacks and shoes are made from industrial hemp, a Sativa branch, known as the sober cousin of marijuana. Industrial hemp has been used since 8000 BC, and its properties include being anti-bacterial, needing no fertilizers and almost no water to grow, it cleans and restores the nutrients in the soil, and it is also very durable. In fact, Hemp is so strong that Henry Ford even built a car out of it. We are pioneers in the development of hemp and our goal is to bring back this awesome natural fiber and make hemp shoes and hemp backpacks mainstream.
Did you know hemp is so strong Henry Ford once built a car with it? It was 10x stronger than steel, and Henry Ford was so confident in the strength of the panel that he took an axe to hit the car. The axe, which would have cut through any steel panel simply bounced back.
It took us 4 months of samples and travel to find the right suppliers. We had to ensure that our material had the best strength while remaining flexible and durable.
Unlike cotton and many other fibers, hemp starts capturing CO2 from the moment its seeds hit the floor. For that reason, when we start the manufacturing process a lot of pollution has already been removed from the atmosphere. We are also planting a tree for every order, making our boots 100% carbon neutral.
Besides being super strong, hemp is also very environmentally friendly. It consumes 3 times less water than cotton, and it has a minimal impact on the soil. Hemp is historically called “weed” for its fast-growing properties capable of restoring the nutrients in the soil. Funny fact: Hemp is being used in Chernobyl to clean the radiation from the soil.
