I’m Andy Wu, founder and CEO of Wiscmaker. As a child, I would stand in front of an old inkjet printer, fascinated by how it transformed blank sheets into vibrant images and text. I even took apart discarded cartridges, trying to uncover the secret—how could such tiny droplets of ink be placed so perfectly?

That early curiosity grew into a career. For over ten years, I’ve dedicated myself to microfluidics research, first during my Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and later leading R&D in advanced printing technologies.

How We Made Auto Unclogging Possible

Wiscmaker X1 solves this with a patented 3-step system:
1️⃣ AI Camera Visual Identity– Our smart camera monitors every print. If it detects missing lines, it knows exactly which nozzles are clogged.
2️⃣ Auto Ink-to-Moisturizer – When idle, ink is replaced with moisturizing liquid to keep nozzles healthy and prevent sediment buildup.
3️⃣ Targeted Nozzle Cleaning – Instead of flushing the whole head, X1 cleans only the blocked nozzle group—using higher pressure and professional cleaning liquid for stronger, more efficient recovery.

One of the most common frustrations with DTF printers is missing lines caused by clogged nozzles. Most machines can’t detect this in real time, which means wasted ink, ruined prints, and costly downtime.

That’s why we developed our own patented AI vision recognition system.
During every print, X1 built-in camera monitors the output in real time. If it detects even the smallest gap or broken line, it knows instantly that a nozzle is clogged. The system then automatically triggers the most efficient unclogging process — saving ink, restoring perfect output, and ensuring your design comes out flawless every time.

Unlike traditional DTF printers that clean all six nozzle groups, Wiscmaker X1 targets only the clogged nozzle group for cleaning. This means we can apply 6 times more cleaning power to the affected nozzles, ensuring a stronger, faster, and more efficient cleaning process.

When the Wiscmaker X1 is idle for an extended period, it automatically enters standby mode. During this process, the ink in the machine’s pipelines is completely replaced with moisturizing solution, ensuring that the Print Head and internal components remain protected.

Dr. Andy Wu earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and has over a decade of experience in microfluidics and advanced printing technologies.

He has published multiple research papers and holds over ten patents, with more currently pending. His innovations in fluid control and MEMS design laid the foundation for Wiscmaker’s AI-powered DTF printing system, enabling automated maintenance and precise, reliable performance.
