Want to know why a husband and wife wanted to bring this product into the world? The seed of “there has to be a better way” started with our many weekly cook-at-home date nights. The pride we felt making chef inspired dishes was really up there, but the disgusting mess that always came with the territory soured some of the fun.
Eventually cooking for date nights evolved into cooking for our kids! Having 2 wonderful boys who loved to eat as though they were teenagers from the age of 1, we cooked a lot at home, but resented the stovetop catastrophes more and more. Even in cooking on low heat, mess happens because when you have kids, a demanding job, are running on low sleep and 0 energy, you get distracted.
It’s funny how sometimes making the simplest purée or the blandest meals can still cause an epic disaster. So in attempting to minimize the time lost on cleanup, we bought all our competitors but didn’t find a product that would do the job right. That’s why we decided to make it!
After hundreds of back and forth emails, dozens of drawings, 3D models, re-designs, multiple prototypes, followed by Covid and a shipping crisis, SplatterDōm v.1 was released on Amazon in Jan 2022. The response we got reassured us that we had something that could replace all other splatter guards, which is why we came here to launch our larger v.2, new colours and a new lid design.
