What is The Softflex? 

The Softflex if the first ski jacket-hoodie hybrid that gives you the look and feel of a flexible hoodie combined with the warmth of a traditional ski jacket. The interior of the Softflex 2.0 is fully insulated and water resistant like a traditional ski jacket. While the exterior remains a soft, stretchable blend that mimics a traditional hoodie to maintain style, comfort and mobility.

With this one of a kind design, you can achieve unmatched levels of performance and comfort without sacrificing warmth.

Our Story

Here at Alphatech we love shredding in a hoodie because it makes us feel so free and unrestricted. On days where it was too cold to wear a hoodie, I noticed the stiffness and bulk of my jacket hurt my style and made me less confident in trying new tricks because I had to fight against the jacket to move the way I wanted to. 

I was tired of waiting for warm days to try new tricks and feel my best. I thought to myself, why can’t I wear a hoodie all the time? And came up with these reasons:

• Wind goes straight through it and makes me cold
• My butt gets wet when I sit / I get wet when I fall
• I don’t have any secure storage for my phone, wallet, or pass.

 With these issues in mind, I got to work on the Softflex with the goal of creating the perfect solution to my issue: a layer that would give me the style, comfort and mobility of my favorite hoodie, without sacrificing the warmth of my traditional ski jacket.

 Fully Stretchable – for ultimate mobility

When we say stretch, we mean it. Thanks to our unique design, you move like you’re wearing nothing!

Fully Insulated – keeping you warm on the coldest days

Unlike what any hoodie has done before, The Softflex is lined with synthetic down insulation that keeps you warm and dry. This lining cuts the wind and traps in heat, no more getting cold on long lift rides!

At the wrists are buttery soft half-gloves that can be worn around your hands or sit comfortably around your wrists if left unused. Either way, they create a snug seal to help insulate your arms while keeping the cold and snow out!

Around the waist is a powder skirt that also helps trap in heat, keeping you warm all day!

Waterproof Where It Matters 

The Softflex 2.0 is lined with water resistant insulation and is coated with durable water repellent. From the waist down (the part that gets exposed to snow when sitting to buckle in, riding on the chairlift etc.) the exterior is extra waterproof.

Why Softflex?

This product uniquely solves the issue of traditional ski jackets restricting movement. The Softflex’s design allows the user their full range of motion while looking incredibly stylish on the mountain.

You look like you’re wearing a hoodie, you feel like you’re wearing a hoodie, but you are as warm as you would be in your stiff traditional ski jacket.

What makes the 2.0 so special?

After proving the hoodie-jacket concept with the first Softflex, we knew there was room for improvement. We got to work with the goal of bringing our full vision to life, without leaving out any detail. 

Since selling out of the 1.0, we asked questions, received feedback and implemented change. For the 2.0 we included new features to help you stay on the hill from first chair to last chair. Not only did we add new features like the ski pass pocket and ventilation, we also upgraded all materials to increase durability, stretch and warmth. The new and improved Softflex 2.0 is the layer we have been dreaming of since first learning to shred. 

Our Unique Design

Insulation and waterproof fabrics used in traditional ski jackets don’t give you the proper stretch to achieve the unrestricted movements that hoodies provide. To solve this issue, on top of being incredibly stretchable on the outside, the Softflex features extra length on the inside (where stretch is limited) so that it can expand to meet all of your movements, Helping you to bring that 360 to a 540 or whatever your next trick!

The Team

Hi Everyone! I’m Kevin, creator of the Softflex. Thank you so much for visiting my page! It means the world to me that you are considering funding my project and joining me in my journey to give the freedom of skiing and snowboarding with minimal restriction and maximum comfort to riders all over the world.

Since I first learned to ski I have preferred piling on hoodies instead of wearing a jacket. I always loved the style of a hoodie and how it looked when doing tricks in the park or buttering down the slopes. I also love feeling loose and like I can move however I want with no restriction. I learned all of my best tricks in a hoodie!

I have been developing the Softflex nonstop for over 3 years now to make sure that it is the perfect solution for the rider looking for greater style, comfort and mobility on the mountain. I hope you love it, and I hope to see you repping the Softflex next season!

Why We Need Your Pledge

With your pledge, I will be able to manufacture the Softflex in bulk and afford the ability to share it with the world. I will also continue to sponsor The United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association (who runs amateur competitions all over the country) to support the next generation of skiers and snowboarders.  In addition, I will continue to support mountain safety programs such as the Alpine Avalanche Rescue Foundation to aid their efforts and mission of training mountain rescue dogs to find skiers and snowboarders buried in the snow.
