Wicked Rose is the technical, performance-obsessed activewear brand that women in martial arts have been missing. We’re size inclusive up to 5XL, Canadian-made, and woman-owned.

That’s okay! The features that we’ve built into our garments are great for running, cycling, weightlifting, or walking your dog. We’d love for you to rep Wicked Rose, whatever your sport.

Women in martial arts are wearing men’s or unisex gear for training. The spats they wear are see-through, low-waisted, and often have space for a cup in the front. Their rash guards are baggy, the U-necks choke them while training, and the waistbands roll up to show their backs.

We’ve spent the past three years testing and iterating on our Phantom Collection. We’ve spoken to over 60 women who train Jiu Jitsu to understand what’s missing from their activewear, and then built exactly what they asked for. We’ve rigorously tested 20+ samples in sizes XS-5XL, getting feedback on the garments’ performance every step of the way.

Our Phantom Spats have a built-in second layer of fabric in the thighs and butt so that they’re not see through, and a high waistband that sits at the most comfortable position on your waist. They’re made from a recycled spandex and polyester fabric, with 14 plastic bottles diverted from the landfill with every pair.

Never have to worry about waistbands that fold over, or pull down to show your underwear, again. Our 3-inch high waistband sits comfortably and flatters your figure, allowing you to train confidently and without distraction.

Our Phantom Spats feature a seamless second layer of fabric in the thighs and butt, ensuring that you can squat, roll, and run with confidence.

Our Phantom Spats and Rash Guards feature a sweat-wicking, breathable fabric made from recycled spandex and polyester. Our Phantom Spats divert 14 plastic bottles from the landfill per pair, and our Phantom Rash Guards divert another 10 bottles.

Our activewear has been rigorously tested in sizes XS-5XL. It is a non-negotiable for us that our garments perform perfectly across our entire size range, which is why it has taken us three years to bring the Phantom Collection to life.

Our short and long-sleeved Phantom Rash Guards have a built-in anti-ride rubber band in the waist that prevents them from riding up, and a slight V-neck that won’t choke you while training. They’re made with the same sweat-wicking, breathable compression fabric as our Phantom Spats, with 10 plastic bottles diverted from the landfill with each rash guard.

Our short-sleeve Phantom Rash Guard features a vibrant new design and shorter sleeves, making it the perfect rash guard to keep you cool, calm, and collected during training.

Our original Phantom Rash Guard, our long-sleeve has received rave reviews from the 130 women who’ve gotten to train in it. Featuring a vibrant design and longer sleeves, this rash guard is perfect to avoid mat burn and train comfortably.

Never have to worry about your rash guard riding up to show your back again. Our built-in anti-ride waistband will hold up during the toughest of training sessions.

The designs on our Phantom Spats and Rash Guards are sublimated, which means that they’re built into the fabric. The fabric starts out white, we build the designs into it, and then we dye the fabric black around it. This means that they will never rub off or wear away.

We’ve collaborated with tattoo artist JinTattoo to bring these designs to life, allowing you to express yourself through what you’re wearing, without the long-term commitment of a tattoo.

Our Phantom Rash Guards feature a slight V-neck that won’t choke you while training. It’s deep enough to not ride up and choke you, but it’s not so deep that you need to worry about the girls falling out.

Our Phantom Hat is made right here in Vancouver, BC; it’s an easy, low-cost way to support our campaign. The hat is embroidered with vibrant tattoo-style artwork, has an adjustable clasp at the back for sizing, and a Canadian-made quality that is out of this world.

We’re proud to say that all of our garments are made right here in Vancouver, BC, in a woman-owned manufacturing company. We love being able to drive down the road to chat and brainstorm new garments.

By manufacturing everything here in Canada, we’re supporting our local economy, lowering our emissions, and helping buoy Canada’s garment industry.

Where We’ve Been & Where We’re Going

Women deserve to see themselves represented in the models, messaging, and marketing of their activewear brands. Wicked Rose is showing women in the light that they see themselves – strong, athletic, driven, and up-for-the-challenge.

We’ve been working on the Phantom Collection for the past three years. Our long-sleeve Phantom Rash Guards have already been in the market for the past year and a half, and they’ve received rave reviews from the 130+ people who have bought them. Our Phantom Spats passed testing in smaller sizes about a year ago, but we’ve worked tirelessly for the past year to make sure that they perform just as well in larger sizes. It is a non-negotiable for us that our garments perform at 100% all the way across our size range.

The Phantom Collection is our first full collection, and we’re so incredibly excited to get it out into the world via this Kickstarter campaign. Now that we’ve perfected our spats, rash guards, and (although not in this collection) Muay Thai shorts, we can begin releasing full collections with new designs. Women are underserved across a whole host of different martial arts (and the wider activewear market!), so we’d like to explore making grappling shorts, wrestling singlets, and possibly more technical garments like gis in the future. We’re excited to see what the future holds!

Hi! It’s lovely to e-meet you, I’m Christina, the founder of Wicked Rose. I’ve been training Muay Thai for the past six years, and I’m incredibly passionate about making space for women in martial arts. I started working on Wicked Rose in March 2020, when I realized that there weren’t any clothing brands specifically for women in martial arts, and all of my friends were wearing men’s or unisex gear for training. I wanted to build something that was high quality and performance-oriented in the same way that there were things available for men, but even better.

I built Wicked Rose to be what I felt was missing in the martial arts industry: high-performance, Canadian-made women’s wear that’s built for every martial artist. I want this brand to represent women in the ways that they see themselves – strong, capable, and confident. I want to continue our relentless pursuit of innovation & the perfect fit, because women deserve better than they’ve been given so far. I’m proud of what we’ve built, but even more excited about what’s to come.

We will be sending out a survey as soon as our campaign closes at the end of April, where you’ll be able to choose your size(s). The survey will include size charts for both our spats and rash guards, as well as photos of various models wearing the garments and their corresponding sizes. Below you can find the sizing chart for our short and long-sleeved Phantom rash guards.

We’re running one more test of our spats in sizes XS, M, 2XL, and 5XL to make sure they fit perfectly before finalizing our sizing chart, so you will receive the spats’ sizing chart with the survey at the end of April. You will not be prompted to choose a size when backing us on Kickstarter.
