THE FABRIC: PYRATEX® POWER III. MADE OF TREES

Great garments begin with great fabric, and after searching for months we finally found it! PYRATEX® fabrics are made from plants with properties that take care of you, knitted in Europe in a way that preserves these properties in the final fabric.

Better for our bodies, better for the planet. 

They use reactive dyes (OEKO-TEX standard 100), in a process that allows them to recycle the water used in the dyeing process. In reactive dyes, covalent bonds are formed with cellulose fibers. Such bonds give high fastness and show better comparative durability against light and washing. They finish their fabrics with water vapour instead of chemicals to ensure the properties are preserved in the final fabric.

For your 24H pants, we chose POWER III from PYRATEX®. A fabric that only uses fiber from sustainable woods to ensure a healthy regeneration of the plants and to avoid any damage to the ecosystem. The fabric is developed with various tree species, including eucalyptus, spruce, pine, birch and beech, grown in natural forests and sustainably managed plantations, without any kind of chemical fertilizers or artificial irrigation.

We strongly believe in sustainably managed forests, as they combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, halt biodiversity loss, and play a major role in the fight against climate change.

Since 1990, some 420 million hectares of trees have disappeared in favor of agriculture and other land uses, that are more profitable, that is why sustainably managed forests are important.  What does loss of forests mean? Lost forests mean the disappearance of livelihoods in rural communities, increased carbon emissions, diminished biodiversity, and the degradation of land. While forest loss remains high, 2020 data show that the proportion of forests in protected areas and under long-term management plans increased or remained stable at the global level and in most regions of the world.

Compared to regular viscose and elastane, this fabric saves:

• 30 liters of water per meter
• 7 kg of CO2 per meter
• 1,4 g of PO4* per meter

PYRATEX® is GOTS, GRS and OCS certified Their dyeing system is OEKO-TEX standard 100 and our fabric POWER III has the following certificates:

Ecolabel, USDA certified biobased product, FSC and PEFC.

ANTI IRRITATION/ IDEAL FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

We use no toxic chemicals on our fabrics to protect and care for the largest organ in your body, your skin. Keratinocytes are the main cell type in the epidermis. These cells produce an important protein called keratin that helps the skin protect the rest of the body. 

The fiber in PYRATEX® Power 3 is compatible with keratinocytes, which means that it is compatible with the skin, therefore there is no skin irritation.

BREATHABILITY & RAPID SWEAT EVAPORATION

100% more absorbent than synthetic fibers and 50% more absorbent than cotton keeping you fresh all day long. The fabric of these pants absorbs the sweat and makes it evaporate fast to keep you dry. This was one of our biggest challenges: a fit that would simultaneously offer both comfort and style. We tried hundreds of pants for you and asked many friends to find the perfect fit: A pair of pants as comfortable as a sweatpant but as elegant and versatile. No need to choose anymore between style and functionality.

Designed with no zipper and no buttons to make them even more long-lasting. The elastic waistband ensures extra comfort and a perfect fit and the loop belt makes them more stylish and versatile.

EASY CARE

It’s really easy to take care of our pants. They are wrinkle-resistant, won’t shrink, and can be washed in a washing machine at 40°C. They’re the ideal travel companion.
