Check on Kickstarter

After many expeditions of having drained batteries, forgetting power banks and only a headlamps,  Summit Ridge Co. decided to do something about it.

The Solution

Harness sustainable energy from the sun using solar technology. This 4 season tent has integrated LED lights that make it easy to illuminate your night by the press of a button.

Ultra-durable exo skeleton design keeps you protected from some of the harshest conditions on earth.

Polyurethane (PU) coating is commonly used to make tent fabrics waterproof. It creates a protective layer on the fabric surface that prevents water from seeping through.

Silicone treatment, on the other hand, involves infusing a silicone-based solution into the fabric. This treatment creates a hydrophobic layer that enhances the fabric’s water resistance.

The exoskeleton design allows you to pitch the tent up very quickly. Once you clip in the living area the first time, the clips can stay attached for fast deployment.

FIRST IN PITCH COMPETITION

On our first successful campaign, we asked our loyal backers what they would like us to innovate on our 2nd campaign. This is what we got. 53% said that they would like an innovative solar tent.

We entered the Dragon V1 into a pitch competition hosted by LaunchBoom. Out of 250 applicants Summit Ridge Co. received 1st!

No limitations to where this tent can go. Whether it’s a 2-day trip or a 2-month expedition, this tent will serve its purpose of offering sustainable energy in the backcountry when you need it.

Instead of traditional vestibules, the dragon tent is an all-in-one structure making the vestibule a part of the tent itself.

Double Wall Design

It features a double-walled construction, with an inner tent made of breathable, lightweight nylon and a tough, weather-resistant outer shell made of durable ripstop nylon.

This design provides excellent protection from the elements, while also allowing for superior ventilation to help prevent condensation buildup inside the tent.

Whether you’re tackling a rugged mountain ascent, or camping out in the backcountry during the dead of winter, the Dragon V1 is the perfect tent for the job.

The RR doors eliminate the hassle of stepping over your gear. Functions are also improved by adding gear loops to further the utility function.

The integration of LEDs with a solar panel system means that mountaineers can have a reliable source of power for their lighting needs.

The solar panel system is designed to charge during the day, then the stored power can be used to power the LEDs at night. This eliminates the need for extra batteries or fuel, reducing the weight of the total gear mountaineers need to carry.

Hanging down from the center of the tent is a control panel that operates the control system for the electronics integrated into the tent.

This will provide easy access to the interior and exterior LED lights, as well as the ventilation fan. The middle button controls the exterior lighting and is also equipped with three different modes to provide extra safety.

This tent prioritizes weather worthiness, functionality, and innovation to allow you to have a successful expedition.

This double-walled 2P solar tent is spacious with 40 sqft of living area.

We relieve that feeling by designing a tent to withstand gale-force winds, heavy snow loads, and relentless rain.

This tent has features that allow you to maximize your exploration efforts by having regenerative energy throughout your entire stay. This allows you to charge important GPS and communication devices to prolong your expedition.

This tent is designed to withstand the conditions that you sometimes find yourself in often. The four aluminum poles that slip into 50D sleeves that cross over forming the X give you a bomber-proof structure. This tent has been tested in 70+ mph winds in Alaska.

Two other poles are placed as crossed beams making this one the most bomb-proof tents made.

The vestibule is all in one making this a very spacious spot to cook or place gear. The guy line system, keep a sturdy  secure tent during your expedition.

Our research and development team has constructed a solar panel very packable weighing 1lb. The whole configuration is IP65 waterproof and uses PERC cell technology.

Mono-crystalline solar panels are made from a single silicon crystal, which makes them the most efficient type of solar panel.

Monocrystalline panels are a popular choice for residential and commercial installations due to their high energy efficiency and long lifespan. This technology can now be implemented in your tent!

They have a black or dark blue appearance due to the uniform color of the cells.

What Summit Ridge Co. uses is modern monocrystalline silicon solar cells that convert 23% better energy conversion efficiency. We introduced PERC technology to improve the mono-crystalline silicon even further.

PERC solar cells stand for Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell, which is a new technology designed to deliver higher energy conversion efficiency by adding a dielectric passivation layer on the rear of the cell.

This layer reduces the recombination of electrons, which allows for more efficient capture of sunlight and conversion of it into electricity.

PERC technology adds a passivation layer to the rear of the solar cell, increasing light capture and conversion. Reflected light is reabsorbed, generating extra energy and improving efficiency.

Connection Points

Using smart charging technology by utlizing the built-in smart IC chip which intelligently identifies your device, fast charging while protects your device from over charging and overloading

This battery pack uses the latest Lithium Polymer technology to bring the total weight decrease with more power. This is an USB DC 5V/2A output that powers all necessary electronics.

This battery pack weights .5lbs and is one of the light power to weight available. The LiPo battery allows this pack to be exposed to harsh weather, condensation and much more.

Lithium-ion batteries, a rechargeable format that emerged in the early 1990s, have significantly improved over time. They consist of three components: a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a liquid chemical compound called an electrolyte.

The main difference between LI ion and LiPo is that ion uses a liquid electrolyte to function which reduces manufacturing costs. This makes them fragile and lack protective technology, this can make them a fire hazard, especially if subdued to high temperatures.

Our research has shown that using a gel-like polymer instead of a liquid contributes to the lightweight nature of the battery. LiPo batteries exhibit a very low self-discharge rate, which means they retain nearly 100% of their charge even when not in use.

Gel instead of Liquid with a dry solid, porous chemical, or gel-like electrolyte, rather than a liquid. As a result, polymer batteries can offer a lower profile, flexible, and more robust designs. In a nutshell, they’re a fair bit safer.

The integration of the LEDs with a solar panel system means that mountaineers can have a reliable source of power for their lighting needs.

The solar panel system can be designed to charge during the day, and the stored power can be used to power the LEDs at night.

Ever struggled to find your headlamp in the morning and somehow everything got spread throughout the tent in the middle of the night?

You ever find your headlamp under your sleeping pad clicked on all night so the battery is almost dead. How do we know this? Well lets just say it happened to us more than once.

We have meticulously placed LEDs along every area of the tent to be able to illuminate the night around you. Our LEDS are rated for outdoor use and have been tested in conditions to verify.

These lights will provide nearly 200 lumens of light to the surrounding areas of the exterior. In the interior, by the push of a button will light up the entire interior including an LED place in the vestibule.

The exterior has 3 modes making the functionality very useful.

A central control panel simplifies LED control, enabling users to easily manage lighting inside and outside the tent. It allows for convenient on/off operation, optimizing battery life and enhancing functionality.

This tent features an integrated control panel housing the battery pack and power connectors. Simply plug in the USB for the external LEDs to connect the tent to power, and leave it for as long as you need.

The other two main power connectors will be placed in the normal voltage ports, these connectors will be the main supply from the pack.

To charge a battery pack there will be a single wire running from the solar panel. This gives 28W of power to the battery pack giving constant power and recharging your necessities.

The control panel is like the command module for space X’s dragon capsule. It functions all support systems in the tent. Three buttons allow you to easily turn on interior and exterior lights in the tent.

The waterproof 24x15cm foam panel houses essential tent wires, with the battery pack conveniently located on the front for easy access. This pioneering technology is unique to our tent, setting it apart from others on the market.

When it comes to mountaineering missions, ski touring or alpine climbing there is nothing better after a successful day out exploring to come back to your shelter.

This tent by itself is 7 LBS making it lighter than most mountaineering tents. The exoskeleton design provides extremely quick set up times.

Our team sat down thinking of how to extremely enhance pole design to form a system that improves functionality during high winds and snow loads.

Since these are external poles on the rainfly, this means the structure can be put up in minutes. Once the clips are places in you can leave it for expeditions to come.

The integration of LEDs, ventilation fans, and solar power in the Dragon V1 tent enhances safety in various ways. The LED lights provide illumination, making it easier for users to navigate the tent at night or in low-light conditions, which reduces the risk of accidents or injuries.

Overall, these features help ensure that the Dragon V1 tent is not only comfortable and convenient but also a safer option for outdoor enthusiasts.

The solar power system provides a reliable source of energy for charging devices such as smartphones or GPS devices, which can be critical in emergency situations where communication is necessary

The Dragon V1 tent comes equipped with a battery pack that can be used to power various features, including a heated sleeping bag. With this functionality, users can enjoy a warm and comfortable night’s sleep even in the coldest of environments.

The battery pack can be conveniently plugged into the sleeping bag, providing a constant source of heat throughout the night.

his feature is especially useful for those who plan to spend extended periods of time in the backcountry, where temperatures can drop significantly at night. With the heated sleeping bag, users can rest easy knowing they will be warm and cozy, no matter how cold it gets outside.

A mini pump is a handy tool for outdoor enthusiasts who want to make their camping experience more comfortable. A mini pump can be used to blow up a sleeping pad quickly and easily.

This is especially useful for hikers and backpackers who want to minimize the weight and size of their gear while still ensuring a good night’s sleep. With a mini pump, you won’t have to waste your breath or risk getting light-headed from inflating your sleeping pad manually.

Instead, you can simply plug the pump into a power bank or other power source, turn it on, and let it do the work for you. This will save you time and energy and help you get a good night’s rest on the trail.
