We created BLACKBIRD because we wanted a better way to protect great coffee in real daily use. Not a disposable bag. Not a simple jar. Not a vacuum system that becomes annoying after a few days.
We wanted one system that could reduce oxygen exposure after every use, work across multiple canisters, track freshness at a glance, and feel effortless enough to use every day.
So we designed BLACKBIRD around the way coffee people actually brew. That’s why we built BLACKBIRD.
The BLACKBIRD vacuum pump activates effortlessly with a simple touch of the sensor button. Place it on the canister, tap once, and the powerful 40 kPa motor draws air out from the inside.
The dual-filter structure prevents functional issues caused by coffee grounds or other particles, helping you store your beans more hygienically.
You can record key dates—such as the storage date or roasting date—by setting the numbered dial on the lid.
BLACKBIRD canisters use a one-way valve that allows air to move in only one direction.
This enables CO₂ to escape while blocking oxygen from entering, regulating internal pressure and helping stabilize the flavor profile of your beans.
Vacuum Status Indicator
A soft rubber marker on the lid surface allows you to check the vacuum state at a glance—simply by looking at the exterior.
The BLACKBIRD charging pad also serves as a stand for the vacuum pump when it’s not in use.
Once the pump is placed on the pad, the metal ring beneath the pump aligns with the pad’s grounding and charging pins, allowing it to charge automatically.
BLACKBIRD preserves the strengths of traditional storage methods while focusing on reducing real-world inconveniences such as repetitive operations, charging hassle, and hygiene maintenance.
Rather than adding unnecessary features, we focused on the true essentials of coffee storage—stable vacuum, intuitive usability, and minimal maintenance.
The result is a well-balanced, thoughtfully refined storage system.
At BLACKBIRD Coffee Gear, our R&D Team was formed with a simple belief:
people who love coffee should be the ones designing the tools that protect it.
Since beginning our research in May 2023, our team has worked side by side across design, engineering, manufacturing, and coffee craft.
We collaborated closely with factory partners for technical refinement and with coffee professionals and baristas to understand how real freshness behaves in everyday use.
From early sketches and CAD concepts to vacuum pressure testing, seal optimization, durability cycles, material trials, and countless prototypes—
every stage was driven by one shared goal:
to create a system we would be genuinely excited to use ourselves, every single day.
Our team poured passion into this work not because it was required,
but because we love coffee and we wanted a storage system that finally lived up to it.
Timeline
Our technical testing is fully complete, and once the campaign is successfully funded, we will move straight into mass production. After final quality inspections, we’ll work to deliver Blackbird to our backers as quickly as possible.
