Our Story – The Bug Beater™ Journey
From Napkin Sketch to Nature’s Throne
It all started with a simple sketch on a napkin back in 2020. Frustrated by the constant buzz and bites of outdoor pests, we envisioned a solution that would let us enjoy the great outdoors in peace. That sketch later turned into a 3D model on AutoCAD, which then led us on a journey through hundreds of manufacturers, dozens of prototypes, and finally, the creation of the “original” Bug Beater™ in June of 2023.
The Original Bug Beater™ and the Bug Beater™ 2.0
After selling out of our initial test order of the original Bug Beater™ in just a matter of weeks with little to no advertising, we realized we were onto something special. However, we recognized there was room for improvement. That’s when we began to ask our customers questions, receive feedback, and implement changes to our current design. And after 8 months of redesigning, testing, and manufacturing, we landed on the “Bug Beater™ 2.0.”
Changes and Upgrades
While images of the original Bug Beater™ have been used periodically throughout this campaign, rest assured that all backers will be receiving the new and improved Bug Beater™ 2.0. The list of upgrades and new features for the 2.0 includes, but are not limited to:
Upgraded beverage cooler. Redesigned to fit up to 5 cans comfortably with ice with reinforced lining to keep those cans cold for longer (up from previous 3 can max).
Updated Branding and Aesthetics. We’ve refreshed our logo, and applied it to the back of the chair and side of the canopy. We’ve also introduced an eye-catching orange trim around the chair’s fabric and switched the color of the frame from gray to black, further enhancing the design’s aesthetic appeal.
Reinforced grommets and overall chair quality. While the original Bug Beater™ was built tough. We went heavy-duty tough with the 2.0. Capable of safely holding up to 350 lbs, up from the previous 300 lb max.
