After building prototypes, I shared them with people around me who often wake up feeling heavy, stiff, or not fully reset.
Founder’s first-night note (personal comparison):
On my first night testing Mirakuru, I woke up at 7:00 AM feeling surprisingly refreshed after a short night. To check whether it was just placebo, I compared my sleep-tracker estimates with previous nights. At about the same sleep time, the score was clearly higher—and even higher than a standard pillow night with about 1 hour more sleep.

WHY WE BUILT THIS
I’m Yukihiro Takenouchi, founder of RIRAKURU, a relaxation salon brand in Japan—and I built Mirakuru Pillow because I wanted better mornings, personally.
I started RIRAKURU because I wanted a more effective, efficient, and affordable way for anyone—including myself—to relax, without relying too heavily on the individual skill of a massage therapist. Within a few years, RIRAKURU had grown into a nationwide brand with hundreds of locations, and later expanded to more than 600 stores across Japan.
But even after building a business around relaxation, I kept asking a deeper question: why do so many people still wake up feeling heavy, stiff, or not fully reset?
My hypothesis was that sleep posture matters more than we think—especially if you don’t move much during the night. If the same areas stay supported for hours, comfort can drop.
That’s why I focused on the pillow—because it’s where head and neck support begins, and where better mornings can start.
Over more than a decade, I worked through prototypes and refinements to reach the gentle motion program we use today. Mirakuru started as something I built for myself, under years of stress and pressure—so sleep could feel like a reset, not just “time passing.”
