Exquisitely tactile and a treat to use. Author Forecast has a solid white oak housing that is smooth to the touch. Arching over it is the ‘Sundial’—a golden wheel inspired by the rising sun and used for navigating the Forecast features.
We’ve used a paper-like E-Ink screen to both reduce energy consumption as well as to nod respectfully to the written page. The screen is framed by a dark bezel with a satin finish. Sleeker than a barometer and more stimulating than a weather app.

- Long-life battery: Author Forecast lasts months between charges and comes with its own USB-C cable. Depending on your settings it can last for several months on a single charge.
- Automatic updates: Author Forecast has built-in Wi-Fi, so all software and content updates happen automatically.

Author Forecast requires a connection to a Wi-Fi network to bring you up-to-date weather information. To ensure a smooth setup, please note:
- 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is required: Author Forecast does not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks.
- No captive portals: Networks that require a secondary login page (common in hotels, cafes, and some corporate environments) are not compatible.
Most standard home Wi-Fi setups meet these requirements. To ensure your Wi-Fi is compatible with Author Forecast check your router for the words dual-band, 2.4 GHz, or 2G.
