As a team of makers and explorers, this was a no-brainer for our team. We want to be inspired by what our users make and how they use Scout. We’re going to highlight what our amazing community creates through a Community Design Library on our website where you can find Scout’s mounting files and others’ designs – all for free.
Scout is MAAK’s first publicly available product, but it’s not our first rodeo. With over 15 years of experience Designing, Engineering, and Manufacturing 300+ products for brands like Bosch, Polaris, Scott Sports, Lowepro, Patagonia, Nomad, goTenna, Rokid, CMC Rescue, FLIR, and Kickstarter OG Gnarbox, our team is ready to make Scout a game-changer. Our team has delivered over 30,000 units of our own product to the U.S. government, so we know how to handle rugged products at large-scale production.
Scout’s development didn’t happen overnight. After gathering insights from 300+ individuals and building 100+ prototypes, we’ve spent 2 years perfecting Scout. With a pending patent application, we’re confident it will deliver the innovation and reliability the outdoor community needs.
We began tooling for manufacture on December 20th, 2024, and Scout production is already rolling. We’re expecting to receive the first production units in February, which will be used for final verification testing and adjustment before full-scale production. Simultaneously, we are currently finalizing and perfecting the firmware.
We’re striving to be as transparent as possible with the development of Scout. We know the wait is long to receive Scout, but we promise it will be worth it. We developed our timeline to give us enough room to really dial in the manufacturing process of Scout so you can be sure you’re getting the high quality, rugged battery you were promised. We are going to keep you all updated every step of the way!
