That subtle change made access effortless, and at the same time created a sculptural form unseen in any slim wallet before.

Designed in Kyoto by leather workshop SUDAKU and product designer Akira Mabuchi, OBLICA blends asymmetrical elegance with functional ease.
Akira Mabuchi, an architectural designer and multidisciplinary creator engaged in product design, collaborated on OBLICA as part of the Kyoto W.D.H. lifestyle design initiative.
Together, they’ve brought a fresh, modern take to traditional Japanese leather craftsmanship.

Each OBLICA is carefully crafted by the artisans of SUDAKU, a bespoke leather workshop near Kyoto’s Kamo River.

of each pocket—has been refined through multiple prototypes for the perfect fit.

OBLICA features a custom snap button designed exclusively by SUDAKU.
This hardware was specially developed for this project in collaboration with a renowned metal fittings manufacturer in Asakusa, Tokyo, with over 80 years of craftsmanship.
Built to last and engineered to provide a satisfying tactile click,
this small but essential component reflects the same attention to detail found throughout the entire piece.

Crafted with Alran’s World-Renowned Goat Leather
OBLICA is crafted using Chèvre leather from Alran S.A.S., a French tannery with over a century of heritage.

For the interior, OBLICA uses Japanese pig suede crafted by a historic tannery in Sumida, Tokyo – the heart of Japan’s leather industry.
Praised for its durability and smooth texture, this suede has supported Japanese craftsmanship for generations.
Together with the French goat leather exterior, it brings a balance of strength, elegance, and heritage.
Packaged in History
Each OBLICA arrives in a Sumidome-bako(角留め箱)—a traditional Japanese gift box once widely used for presenting sweets and handicrafts.
The corners are reinforced with metal staples, giving the box simple structural strength.
Today, this humble yet meaningful style is preserved by only a few factories in Japan.
The result? A product with modern design, presented in a box that carries over generations of craftsmanship and quiet elegance.
