MakerPi Tiruler 2.0
Do More. Carry Less.
Tiruler 2.0 is a multifunctional folding ruler designed around real-world making workflows. It doesn't stop at measuring — it's designed to help you move naturally into whatever comes next.

More Than Just a Ruler
In real-world projects, measuring is often only the beginning. After measuring a dimension, you need to draw a line. After checking an angle, you need to mark it. After measuring a curve, the next step might be marking, cutting, adjusting, or checking it again.
The problem isn't that we don't have enough tools. It's that we constantly have to switch between them. The idea behind Tiruler 2.0 is simple: bring together the tools for the everyday tasks that naturally happen one after another.

More Than Just a Ruler
Why 2.0?
The original Tiruler proved one thing: a ruler should do more than just draw straight lines. With the support of over 1,400 backers on Kickstarter, we brought that idea to life.

The Original Tiruler
More importantly, our backers shared valuable suggestions and real-world feedback, helping us understand what worked well and what could be improved.
We took those insights back to the drawing board, refined the design, and created Tiruler 2.0 — a more versatile tool shaped by our community.
Tiruler vs. Tiruler 2.0 — What's New & Improved?

Tiruler vs. Tiruler 2.0
Now, let's take a closer look at what's new.
Folding Ruler Arms
Tiruler 2.0 keeps the dual 10 cm folding-arm design. Open it up for a longer measuring range, then fold it down into a compact form that fits easily into a pocket, toolbox, or drawer.
The idea is simple: you shouldn't need to cover your workbench with different tools just to complete a small task. Switch tools less. Get more done.

Folding Ruler Arms
Dual Measurement Systems
By default, the two ruler arms use different measurement systems: metric on one side and imperial on the other.
During the Kickstarter Backer Survey, we'll also offer all-metric and all-imperial versions, so you can choose the setup that best matches the way you work.

Ruler & Pencil — Better Together
Whenever you use a ruler, there's usually a pencil somewhere nearby. Measuring and marking naturally go together, so Tiruler 2.0 integrates a compact pencil directly into the tool.
It uses a replaceable everlasting pencil tip that is water-resistant, durable, and resistant to breaking.
Measure, then mark — without reaching for another tool or interrupting your workflow.

Multi-Purpose Pencil
Magnetic Design
The pencil is held in place magnetically. Pull it out when you need it, and simply place it back when you're done.
No complicated mechanism. No separate storage required.

Grab It. Snap It Back
Built-In SIM Eject Pin
Hidden inside the pencil is a fine multi-purpose pin. Use it as a SIM eject tool — or, if you like, as a toothpick, a tiny hole punch, a pick for small parts, or anything else you can think of.
Sometimes, the smallest tool ends up being one of the most useful.

Tiny Pin. Big Possibilities
Compass Function
You may have noticed a row of small holes along the inside of one ruler arm. They're designed to work with the pencil and positioning pin.
Use the pin as the center point and place the pencil into the corresponding hole to draw circles of different sizes using the scale on the ruler arm.
A ruler that can turn into a compass whenever you need one.

From Ruler to Compass
Integrated Magnetic Craft Knife
Tiruler 2.0 also integrates a compact blade for quick cutting tasks with paper, cardstock, tape, and other lightweight materials.
From measuring to marking to cutting, you can move through the workflow without constantly switching tools.
It isn't designed to replace a dedicated cutting tool. Instead, it's there to make the most common steps on your workbench flow more naturally.

Ready to Cut in Seconds
The knife also uses a magnetic structure with an additional retention design to help keep it securely in place even when the tool is shaken or carried around.
Compatible with standard #11 scalpel blades.

Pull Out. Snap Back
Square or Protractor
Tiruler isn't just a straight ruler. Open it up and it can also work as an angle-measuring tool, allowing you to measure an angle and draw it directly.

Measure Angles
Quick Angle Positioning
The positioning mechanism allows the ruler arms to quickly stop at common angles including 45°, 90°, and 180°.
Open it, position it, and keep drawing — without reaching for another tool.
The goal isn't to make you learn a new way of working. It's to help you do more using familiar motions.

Quick Angle Stops: 45° / 90° / 180°
Curve Measurement
Straight rulers are great for straight lines, but the things we measure aren't always straight.
One end of Tiruler 2.0 features a measuring wheel designed to follow curves and curved surfaces.
One full rotation of the wheel equals 100 mm.
Each time it passes the zero position, you'll hear a clear “Click.” For measurements longer than 100 mm, simply count the clicks and add the current wheel reading to calculate the total length.
From straight lines to curves, one tool can handle both.

One Full Turn. One Click.
Pocket Caliper
Small cylinders, bottle caps, model parts, pipes, holes, rings — sometimes you just need to quickly check a dimension without reaching for a dedicated caliper.
For makers, designers, model builders, and craftspeople, these quick measurements happen all the time.
Tiruler 2.0 is designed for exactly those moments.

Ruler Meets Caliper
External Measurements
Tiruler 2.0 isn't intended to replace professional measuring instruments. Instead, it's the kind of tool you can keep close at hand and reach for whenever you need a quick measurement.
With the fine scale on the body, the caliper can be read down to 0.1 mm, using a reading method similar to a vernier caliper.

Fine Readings Down to 0.1 mm

Pocket-Sized. Ready to Measure
Internal Measurements
Compared with the original Tiruler, Tiruler 2.0 also adds internal measurement capability.
Two cylindrical pins serve as the measuring points. Each pin has a diameter of 1.5 mm, giving Tiruler 2.0 an internal measurement range of 3–55 mm.

Measure Inside Diameters
Because of the structure, getting the final reading requires one extra step:
Final internal measurement = brass scale reading + 3 mm
For example:
11 mm + 3 mm = 14 mm
It isn't as direct as reading a professional caliper, but when you don't have one nearby, it's a practical way to get a quick measurement.

Upgraded Scale Markings
The brass scale on the original Tiruler was laser engraved. Based on user feedback, we found that some of the markings could be difficult to read, especially after dirt or residue built up on the surface.
For Tiruler 2.0, we revisited the manufacturing process and switched to chemical etching + black ink filling.
The markings are first chemically etched into the surface, then filled with black ink to create stronger contrast and better readability from different viewing angles.
It's a small change on paper, but one that makes a difference every time you use the tool.

What Else?
Tiruler 2.0 also includes a built-in bubble level.
It's a simple feature, but one that can come in handy for installation, positioning, model making, and everyday DIY work.

Level It with Ease
Tritium Tube Support
Tiruler 2.0 retains two mounting holes for tritium tubes or glass glow tubes, making the tool easier to locate in low-light environments.
Tritium tubes glow continuously without external charging, while glass glow tubes can be charged with UV light and gradually become dimmer over time.
These types of inserts are widely used in EDC gear and also give you another way to personalize your Tiruler.

Light Up Your Tiruler
Custom Engraving
A lot of us like putting a name, symbol, or personal mark on the tools we own.
Tiruler 2.0 includes a dedicated area for custom engraving, supporting up to 20 characters.
If you choose this option, we'll collect your engraving details during the Kickstarter Backer Survey.
Make your Tiruler truly yours.

Make It Yours
Tiruler 2.0 Is Made For:
Makers, designers, engineers, model builders, leatherworkers, craftspeople, woodworkers, prototypers, and anyone who enjoys EDC and compact everyday tools.
It can live on your workbench or become part of your everyday carry.
Whether you're working on a full project or simply solving a small problem, Tiruler 2.0 is ready when you need it.
Why Back Tiruler 2.0?
Tiruler 2.0 wasn't designed around making a tool more complicated.
It was designed to make it more intuitive and easier to use.
We don't want to create another tool that looks impressive on paper but rarely gets used. We want to make something you'll actually keep within reach — and genuinely use again and again.
It keeps the familiar parts of a ruler while adding the functions you often need immediately after measuring.
Do More. Carry Less.

Designed for Makers, Designers, and Everyday Problem Solvers
Tiruler 2.0 is made for people who measure, build, make, and want their tools to work more naturally.
It can sit on a maker's workbench, live in a designer's bag, stay beside a 3D printer, join a model-making kit, fit into a craft drawer, or simply become part of your everyday carry.
It isn't intended to replace every professional measuring instrument.
Its goal is to become the tool you actually want to keep close — and reach for again and again.
