M5 & M6 In the Review's Hands

Mobile gaming has evolved rapidly. Smartphones now deliver console-quality experiences, powered by cloud gaming, retro titles, and emulators. That’s why, in late 2025, we launched M4, our compact MagSafe controller, on Kickstarter. Nearly 6,000 backers supported the project, proving that gamers wanted a truly portable way to play.

We kept listening. Players wanted larger joysticks, a fuller grip, and more comfort for longer sessions. M4 made mobile gaming truly portable, but one compact controller couldn’t fit every way people wanted to play. So we created new options for different needs. That’s where M5 and M6 began.

Two Models. Two Ways to Play.
Choose M5 for a slim, pocket-friendly design, USB-C plug-and-play, and low-profile sliding sticks.
Choose M6 for wireless freedom, clickable capacitive sticks, analog triggers, and motion controls.

FROM A DIY IDEA TO M5

M5 began with an unexpected encounter. We discovered Jinjiang, an independent creator who had built a similar concept almost entirely on his own — from 3D modeling to PCB design and programming.

Wedecided to build it together. By combining his original vision and DIY spirit with our engineering and manufacturing experience, a handmade idea evolved into a product ready for mass production.

M5 Founder's Edition — Limited to 1,000 Units Worldwide.

Inspired by classic gaming hardware, the M5 Founder's Edition comes in a nostalgic retro green — a tribute to an iconic era of gaming.

To make it even more personal, you can customize the logo with two letters of your choice, replacing the standard abxylute logo.

After the campaign ends, we'll email all Founder's Edition backers to collect their custom letters. If no customization is submitted, the standard abxylute logo will be used by default.

M6: THREE YEARS IN THE MAKING

M6 is our longest project yet — nearly three years from idea to production, earning it the nickname “little Nezha.” Inspired by feedback for bigger sticks, a fuller grip, and greater comfort, M6 is our answer.

What makes M5 & M6 Stand out

Compatibility

Prototype shown

M5 and M6 come with an adjustable magnetic mount, designed to accommodate different phone sizes for a better fit.

They support a wide range of iPhones and Android phones, including popular models like the iPhone 18 series, Samsung Galaxy S26, Google Pixel 11, OnePlus 15, Xiaomi 17, and more.

For non-MagSafe phones, we even include a magnetic adhesive ring, so you can simply stick it on, snap your phone into place, and start playing.

Connection

At abxylute, we listen closely to our community. From our M4 users, we heard one request again and again: “A wired version please.” That feedback became one of the key reasons we created M5.

M5 offers a wired USB-C connection — plug in and play, with no Bluetooth pairing required. It’s built for players who value simplicity, instant response, and a hassle-free setup.

M6 offers Bluetooth wireless connectivity, giving you a clean, cable-free experience and more freedom to play your way.

M5 connects directly via USB-C. With pass-through charging, you can charge your phone while gaming and keep playing without interruption.

M6 connects via Bluetooth for a clean, cable-free experience. Its built-in 500mAh battery delivers up to 10 hours of gameplay, so you can play longer without worrying about battery life.

Strong Magnetic Hold

M5 and M6 deliver up to 4098 gf of magnetic strength, keeping your phone firmly attached even during intense gameplay.

Whether you’re making quick movements, changing your grip, or reacting to the action, the powerful magnetic hold keeps your phone stable and secure with minimal risk of slipping or coming loose.

Bidirectional Damped Slide Rail

Sliding rails were once popular in the feature-phone era, but as smartphones took over, they nearly disappeared — along with many of the suppliers that made them. Finding a factory capable of producing a long, rigid, and durable rail for M6 became surprisingly difficult.

With help from our friends, we eventually found a manufacturer that once produced sliding rails for Nokia and Sony, and their experience helped us refine the design.

Unlike classic slider phones, whose rails typically supported only a lightweight screen and cover, M5 and M6 need to support a phone and case weighing up to around 300g. That demanded much greater strength, rigidity, and durability.

The result is our bidirectional damped slide rail — smooth and controlled throughout the movement, with magnetic assistance at the fully open and closed positions for a clear, secure locking feel.

Detachable Grip

The detachable grips use a unique structure that combines magnetic force with mechanical shear support. They can only be removed at a specific angle, while remaining firmly secured against force from other directions — stable under pressure and secure even when held upside down.

Once attached, the full-size grips make a noticeable difference in comfort. Their ergonomic shape provides better support for your hands, reducing fatigue during longer gaming sessions.

Z-Axis Linear Motor

M5 and M6 use Z-axis linear motors to deliver responsive, immersive vibration feedback. With four adjustable vibration levels, you can fine-tune the intensity for different games and preferences — from subtle feedback to powerful, impactful vibrations.

Joysticks

M5 features low-profile sliding joysticks, inspired by the iconic designs of the PSP, PSP Go, and Nintendo 3DS — handhelds that defined an era of portable gaming.

Instead of using traditional raised joysticks, the recessed sliding design helps keep M5 remarkably slim and pocket-friendly, while still providing smooth and precise control. It’s our way of bringing a familiar piece of handheld gaming history into a modern mobile gamepad.

Following the capacitive joysticks introduced on abxylute One Pro, we worked with K-Silver to develop an all-new generation for M6 — offering high precision, long-lasting durability, and resistance to magnetic interference.

Despite its compact size, the joystick achieves a 20° tilt angle, close to the feel of a traditional 23° full-size stick, while supporting L3/R3 clicks.

Instead of sinking the sticks into deep circular cutouts, we designed a stepped surface to create more room around each joystick — delivering better thumb movement, comfort, and a cleaner overall look.

Triggers

M5 features tactile micro-switch triggers with short travel and crisp feedback. Every press feels quick and precise, making them ideal for fast-paced games where every input matters.

With less travel required, you can trigger actions faster and reset quickly for the next press — all while keeping M5 slim and compact.

M6 features Hall Effect linear triggers for smooth, precise analog control. Across NS, XInput, and PS modes, both triggers can also be switched to Fast Trigger Mode for quicker actuation and response.

Go linear for racing and precise control, or switch to Fast Trigger Mode for shooters and action games — one trigger, two ways to play.

Customizable Macro Button

To keep M5 slim and pocket-friendly, we replaced traditional clickable joysticks with dedicated LS and RS buttons. Beyond standard L3/R3 functions, both buttons support customization and macro programming, giving you more control without adding extra bulk.

M6 comes with a dedicated Z button for both customization and macro programming, bringing the flexibility of a full-size gamepad into a compact form.

Map it to frequently used actions like sprint, jump, reload, or weapon switching, or program multi-button combinations for fighting, action, and emulator games. It puts more commands within easy reach while keeping M6 clean and portable.

Prototype shown

Mode Switch Button

Both M5 and M6 include a dedicated Mode Switch, letting you move easily between NS, XInput, and PS modes. No complicated button combinations — simply switch to the mode you need and start playing.

From mobile games and emulators to different gaming platforms, switching modes is quick and effortless, so you can spend less time setting up and more time playing.

Prototype shown

6-Axis Gyroscope

M6 integrates a 6-axis gyroscope for intuitive motion control. Tilt, turn, and move naturally for more precise aiming and responsive gameplay — especially useful for shooting, racing, and motion-controlled games.

It adds another layer of control beyond the sticks, bringing M6 closer to the experience of a full-size modern gamepad.

Built-In Turbo Function

To bring M5 and M6 closer to the experience of a full-size pro controller, we added a built-in Turbo function. By combining the M button with A, B, X, Y, LT, RT, LB, or RB, you can easily turn repeated button presses into rapid-fire inputs.

Whether you’re firing continuously in a shooter, attacking repeatedly in an action game, or handling rapid inputs in arcade and emulator titles, Turbo makes repetitive actions faster and easier.

Ambient Lighting

At abxylute, we’ve always been careful about adding lighting to handheld products. Unlike a full-size controller, a mobile gamepad sits right beside the screen — meaning overly bright or direct lighting can easily become distracting during gameplay.

For M6, we designed a diffused ambient lighting system. Instead of shining directly into your eyes, the light reflects softly across the controller’s surface, creating a smooth, comfortable glow.

The lighting also changes automatically across four modes — NS, XInput, PS, and Virtual Mapping — giving each mode its own visual identity while gently illuminating the controller and your fingertips.

abxy Game App

We believe great gaming isn’t just about the controller — it’s about the whole experience.

That’s why we developed the abxy Game App, our in-house gaming hub built to bring your games and controller settings together in one place.

Manage your emulators, local games, cloud titles, and streaming platforms, while fine-tuning your controller with button remapping, joystick and trigger adjustment, macro programming, virtual touch mapping, lighting, and vibration settings.
